This novel index will improve the actual tools and systems used by the City Council to classify and develop their database on urban pavaments. This new index will allow to quantify the real performance of the urban pavements of Barcelona and will permit to define repairing and maintenance strategies, as well as reccomendations to improve the performance of the rehabilitation works. This tool will be developed according with the multi-criteria methodology MIVES, developed at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
